Danny’s Song.
I remember the exact moment I heard this song years ago. Since that day it has been in my top five favorite songs to stand by…if not number one. I am so in love with the words in this song. If you don’t know them or have not heard this song…not only is that a tragedy, but you should correct this immediately. Rather than you having to search YouTube for the video…I will do you a kindness and add the video to this blog…you can thank me later. This song which actually was written by Loggins for his brother’s son Colin was transformed into what it is now when he paired up with Messina to include female vocals such as Anne Murray who in turn made the song famous in the early 1970s.
Anyhow, now that you have had your bit of music history and if having never heard it, hopefully I have introduced you to a great song…
Not only is the song beautiful but the words are so soft and strong all at the same time.
“even though we ain’t got money, I’m so in love with you, honey, and everything will bring a chain of love.”
How can you not love that line. This is what love should be about, the feeling, the things you do for each other, the time you spend together. I have always said my favorite gifts I have ever gotten are the ones that take time or thought. Handmade is always the best or cards with words of how you feel is just perfect. I feel like people focus so much on money that they lose sight of the person really in front of them. Money does not last forever, so what happens when you run out…can you look at that person beside you and still be happy and love them. Will they love you? Take money out of the equation and truly know that you enjoy the person you are with even when you are penniless.
“And if you find she helps your mind, better take her home. Don’t you live alone. Try to earn what lovers own”
Yet another great line…If you find it keep it! If they make you happy grab them and don’t let go. Its plain and simple. We were made to find that person that completes us and creates our whole. That person that makes us realize we found what we did not even know we were missing. Find someone who you will do anything for no matter how big the task because even the biggest task seems small and when they seem down the only thing you can think of is ways to make them smile.
“Now I see a family where the once was none.”
If someone makes you say this then you have found it, so embrace it. I have a few friends that I watch their relationships and see the little things they do, even if it is just a stroke of the hair or a kiss on the head. It’s in those moments that their true love shines. Moments like these aren’t meant to be noticed by others but just by one. I always tend to notice these things though because for me…this is the glue to the love between two people. The kiss on the head, the secret glances, slow dancing at home, shared smiles, just because moments…thats what it’s all about. I completely admire my friends that have this and they make me smile a little bit more when I see these moments. This song does the same for me…it makes me smile each time I hear it. It keeps me wanting what I envision the couple in this song having {love, children, & a lifetime of just simple happiness that is effortless & just works} I hope it does the same for you.
